David Cook - Painter
David Cook is a painter of landscapes, building interiors and portraiture, who works in oils, watercolour, mixed media and screen printing. David believes that a sense of place comes from a measured evaluation, a spiritual acceptance and a willingness to absorb nuances of the relationship between things solid, ephemeral and unseen, with all their brilliance, sombreness, fluidity and fleetingness. The act of painting for him is grappling with this definition, whether it be within landscape or a defined space. The late Andrew Wyeth (1917-2009) said 'I feel that a picture must be abstractly exciting before you get into the image'. David's aim is to emulate this idea; for him it has become a core value.
