Elaine Winter - Painter & Print Maker
Elaine Winter is a painter and printmaker. Her recent work is a mixture of portraits, figurative work and images derived from studies of the human figure. For her most recent solo exhibition at the Spotlight Gallery in Newark she produced a series of prints using intaglio and monoprint techniques based around an exploration of identity, ancestral past and community.
Elaine was born in Middlesbrough in 1967 but lived and worked in London from 1988-2001. She studied for a degree in the Practice and Theory of Visual Art at Chelsea College of Art & Design, graduating in 1998. She took part in various group exhibitions whilst at Chelsea and had work selected for a London Institute show. Since moving to Newark in 2001, she has taken part in open studios, held solo exhibitions and exhibited with 'Newark Fine Art Printmakers'.
